Terms of Service.

The contract for driving tuition is solely between you and your instructor.

In order to have driving lessons you must:

  • be aged 17 or older

  • hold a current, valid UK driving licence (provisional, full or appropriate foreign licence)

  • be able to read a licence plate at 20.5 metres (67 feet)

If you fail to provide proof of the above, your instructor is entitled to refuse driving tuition and may also charge for lost lesson time.

The instructor can reserve the right to refuse lessons, terminate a lesson early or refuse the use of the car for a test should they deem the pupil is not ‘test ready’.

We accept no responsibility for tests cancelled/moved by the DVSA.

Payment

The pricing options can be found here.

Payment can be made via Bank Transfer, Zettle POS (in car) or cash.

All lessons must be paid for in full.

For Block Bookings, payment must be received in full prior to the first lesson.

Lessons prices are subject to change and vary across the UK.

If you have pre-paid, then the lesson will be delivered at the original quoted price per hour. If the lesson price changes, you will be notified of such changes prior to booking further lessons.

Refund Policy

If you have pre-paid and no longer wish to proceed with driving tuition, we will refund your remaining, unused credit in full, without charge.

Lesson Structure

It is you and your instructors responsibility to agree and confirm lesson duration, meeting time and location. Lessons may include both theory and practical elements.

Weekend or evening lessons are at the instructors discretion and may incur additional cost.

Lessons are client-centred and based on the DVSA syllabus.

You must notify your instructor of any matters that may affect your ability to proceed with your driving lesson, including COVID-19, sickness or loss of valid driving licence.

There may be occasions when your instructor is running late for arrival at the agreed lesson start time or the lesson runs late due to unforeseen circumstances, for example due to traffic; please be patient and understanding.

Practical Driving tests will always take priority over other lessons, please be flexible should your lesson need to be moved, shortened or cancelled to accommodate another pupils Practical Test; you will be given the same priority when your time comes.

You are advised to be punctual for your lesson. Should you not attend your lesson or not be punctual, we will wait for a maximum of 15mins before abandoning and forfeiting the lesson.

Your instructor may not be available when you choose to be available for a lesson due to busy diary; please be understanding and flexible where possible.

Qualifications

Your instructor is legally authorised to provide driving tuition in the UK as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) issued by the DVSA.

Safety
The safety of the pupil, instructor, other road users and general public is paramount and is considered a ‘shared responsibility’.

In the event of an emergency or difficult situation, follow your instructors advice carefully and if required allow them to control the car. The instructor may need to intervene verbally or physically (eg dual controls, steering), and should this be required you will be informed why. such actions were necessary when safe. There may be occasions when the instructor may need to swap over to drive the car.

Lessons may be cancelled, postponed or rescheduled should the road conditions be unsuitable or due to adverse weather conditions e.g. snow or ice.

Your Responsibility

It is your responsibility to;

  • be punctual & ready for your lesson (NOTE/ the instructor will not knock on your door so please come out to check).

  • bring any glasses/spectacles, if required, for driving to every lesson.

  • wear appropriate/suitable footwear and clothing.

  • no smoking in the car.

  • inform us of any driving convictions or penalty points.

  • inform us if you have consumed any alcohol or illegal drugs prior to your lesson. Your instructor reserves the right to terminate a lesson and cancel future bookings if they suspect you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  • inform us of any medical conditions or medication that you may take that may affect your ability to drive safely.

  • ensure you have collected all personal belongings at the end of the lesson. We do not accept responsibility for any personal belongings that are left in the car.

  • act responsibility in an appropriate mature, sensible and considerate manner at all times during the lesson. Your undivided attention should be on the driving lesson. A car presents a risk to yourself, the instructor other road users and the general public.

  • If anything is causing a distraction or you feel uncomfortable on your lesson, please make your instructor aware.

Booking Theory & Driving Tests

Booking your Theory Test is the pupils responsibility.

Booking your Practical Driving Test can be done by yourself or the instructor on your behalf.

Practical Driving Test swaps by either pupil or instructor are allowed providing both pupil & instructor have confirmed the time & venue is acceptable and both have agreed.

Practical Driving Tests will always take priority over other lessons.

Should you book your Practical Driving Test yourself, please inform your instructor immediately to ensure the training car is available for the test. There may be occasions where the car is unavailable for a late Test booking.

Please note, the cost for the training car use during the test is charged at the normal rate, minimum fee is 1.5hr.

The cost for the training car use during the Practical Driving Test MUST be paid in full prior to your test.

In the interests of customer, examiner and general public safety, the instructor reserves the right to withhold the use of the training car for the test - if in the instructors opinion your driving and/or behaviour is a potential danger.

TWDS holds no responsibility for any postponement or cancellation of tests by you or the DVSA, nor the loss of any fees paid.

Our Promise & Joint Understanding

We aim to provide the highest standards of service and behaviour, in a professional and ethical manner.

You will be taught with courtesy, politely, with dignity and respect. Your instructor should be dealt with in the same manner.

We cannot guarantee a pass of theory or driving test, but we are dedicated to provide you with the tools to achieve this.

Lessons are structured to allow effective client-centred learning, whilst maintaining ‘guardian of safety’ to allow for effective progression to assist you to achieve the required standard of driving.

The instructors car will be clean, tidy, maintained and roadworthy (MOT). The instructors car will be fully insured and fitted with dual controls.
